RDSSP Assistant – James Bates

Apprentices RDSSP James BatesJames is our new SSP assistant after his two year apprenticeship where he worked alongside the partnership.

My favourite thing about working with the SSP is definitely running our sports competitions for the primary schools to take part in. It is great to see all the different children taking part in so many different sports.”

“My favourite sports to play include football, tennis and badminton. If I had to choose a favourite competition to run it would either be Sportshall Athletics or Cross Country (minus the early start)!”

James also works in Turnditch CofE Primary School one day a week supporting their excellent delivery of PE. “Working at Turnditch has really helped me to develop my skills, I have learnt from some of the very best. They have provided me with the opportunity to continue my professional development which will hopefully help me achieve my targets/goals.”

James’ best memory from the past three years came in a group of three: the mini soccer county finals, the sportshall athletics county finals and the quadkids county finals. “It was an amazing year for Turnditch, reaching three county finals where we came 2nd in all three. It would have been nice to have won one but I was still extremely proud of all the hard work the students had put in to achieve such wonderful results.”
