How would you like to get your school involved in one of the UK’s biggest sporting events?

The Tour of Britain Cycle Race is coming to the Derbyshire Dales and past your school’s front door (or very nearly!) on Friday 11th September. (See the route map here).

The Tour of Britain is the UK’s premier cycling event, and attracts not just our home-grown cycling heroes with the likes of Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish having been previous participants and stage winners,  but also global cycling stars to the roads of the UK, last year’s winner went on the become 2104 World Champion!

There are lots of ways you and your school can get involved with the celebrations, we would love to give the riders a big welcome, so why not……….

  • Decorate your street/school? Create a banner to show your support. The TV cameras love to show this sort of thing, there will be live coverage every day as well as the highlights programme – all on ITV4.
  • Enter the Rural Derbyshire School Sports Partnership design a musette (feed bag) /water bottle/cycle jersey competitions to win great prizes from our sponsors Dare2b – the official jersey provider for the Tour of Britain. Why not share your designs with them via Facebook and Twitter.
  • Organise a cycling festival at your school.
  • How about a cycle to school day, so that everyone can be at the roadside with their bikes ready for the race to whizz past?
