A Year to Celebrate – RDSSP Impact Report

RDSSP_impactreport2013FINALfrontcoverThe Rural Derbyshire School Sport Partnership has published its 2013 Impact Report.

2013 was an important year for school sport partnerships with the Government having introduced the new, ring-fenced ‘Sport Premium’ fund to improve the provision of sport and PE in primary schools.

2013 was a fantastic year for our schools.  We ran more than 100 events in 24 different sports and activities involving school teams competing 540 times.  That meant our pupils participated more than 6,610 times in festivals and competitions.

LizzieMore than 1,500 pupils have taken part in our cross country running events alone, including 5 year old Lizzie from Cromford C of E Primary school who has Cerebral Palsy and won a medal in the Reception Class Fun Run held at Cromford Meadows, Matlock, in October.

We’ve also trained 350 Young Leaders to help deliver our events and activities in primaries and we’ve run 5 Inclusion/Disability events involving school teams competing 19 times.

RDSSP Partnership Development Manager Janice Price said: “Ian Thomas, Director of Education for Derbyshire, has urged primary schools to invest the new ‘Sport Premium’ funding wisely, recognising the valuable role of School Sport Partnerships in organising and promoting PE and sport.”

“Investment from our cluster primaries allows us to offer even more events, programmes and coaching resources for Everyday Activity, Physical Education, Inclusion and Disability and Club and Community links as well as offering Talent Pathways and added value programmes and training.”
